A "Member" in Hiding for 3 Years

Hey everyone!! These last few weeks have been great!

We had Ivetes' baptism this past Saturday! Which was so special!! We went to pick her up, cause the walk from her house is kinda far from the church and we thought it would be nice to walk with her. When we got there, she was already looking out the window and said she was ready to leave without us she was so excited! She was so smiley the whole time and the next day was one of the first people to get to church, even before us!

This next week we have another baptism for a guy named Jefferson! His story is funny, his wife is a member and he has been going to church with her since they have been married for 3 years. The first few weeks he would wear normal clothes to church, so the missionaries naturally always went to talk to him to try to teach him the church lessons. He decided to buy a white dress shirt, black pants and a tie so that when the missionaries switched out, they wouldn't know he wasn't a member. So he has been a "member" in hiding for 3 years and reached out to us because he knows the church is true and wants to be baptized! So cool!

At our church building every Friday, it is open to anyone to play soccer. There was a huge group of kids wanting to play and we were there talking to all of them and they were all shocked when they found out I was American. They were saying things like "oh my gosh, I have never seen an American in real life' and "can you talk in English for us?" haha. It was fun.

This area has SO many people who are interested in learning more about Jesus Christ. Which is awesome!

Oh also two p-days ago (Mondays), we had a p-day with our whole mission!! We got to all walk up a hill to a giant Christ statue and it was so fun to be with everyone! We took the bus 5 hours from our area to get there and then 5 to get home, all in one day. I told my mission president that we should have a mission activity every transfer haha! It was so fun!

Have a great week everyone!

Love,
Sister Ward
