We Were Attacked by Bees
Hey everyone! These last two weeks have been amazing! I have been with Sister Vaciloto! We work great together and have been having lots of fun! Sadly, we found out yesterday that there is a transfer emergency this week and I will be receiving a different sister here tomorrow and she will be going to another area. We were doing so good on our goals and we were contacting and teaching many! The new companion I will be receiving is also from Brazil and her name is Sister Dos Santos.
On a positive note, I have been loving my new area!!! It's huge!! We are the furthest area away in our mission! We get to see lots of cool animals! I have seen lizards, giant frogs, bats, donkeys, lots of horses and cows, monkeys and even birds that look like ostriches (called rheas, and are native to Brazil)! We also have a lot more green space too, which I love. Sadly there aren't any hiking trails in Brazil for p-days haha.
We are in charge of 2 branches here, as they are too small to be Wards. Which means instead of a Stake, we have a District. We had the opportunity to join the choir to perform at the District Conference last Sunday! We actually got roped into it, because after lunch one day with a member we asked if we could help her with anything. She said "yes, you can help me by joining the choir." She then called the choir director in front of us to ask if "the sisters can join." It was very fun and I love to sing!
We had our zone conference this week and clean checks in our houses! We won the cleanest house award, which means we also won some extra money! Yay!
This past week we were attacked by bees! They didn't get a chance to sting us because we ran so fast. In our efforts to run away, Sister Vaciloto tried swatting the bees with a Book of Mormon as we ran and ended up dropping it. Not only was the Book of Mormon left behind in the dirt, it contained our notebook with our contacts. I told her she had to go back and get it because she dropped it HaHa. But the bees were swarming the Book of Mormon and she was too scared to go get it. So I booked it to grab the book and ran away without getting stung. Whew!!! While this was happening, 3 guys were standing down the road laughing as they watched.
We watched a mission devotional this week and my companion and I put our mattresses on the floor and watched off the laptop we use at the mission technology leaders...we were thriving!
I also got to see a huge Jesus statue which was so cool!
I hope everything is going well with you all! Have a great week!
Lots of love,
Sister Ward
