I Know God Loves All His Children
Hey everyone!!! So I just found out that not everyone has been receiving my bi-weekly emails due to the technology that I have access to here in Brazil. So I am going to have my dad forward my emails with my updates for you guys! I only have access to a shared cell phone and no computers, so I have to type things out on the phone and send using bad wifi. My dad will also forward my other emails since I have been in Brazil for anyone who didn't receive them. I would still love to receive emails from you when you have the time so all you have to do is just "reply all" and delete my dads email and keep my email (elizabeth.ward@missionary.org
These last 2 weeks have flown by! They have been a good 2 weeks! We have been teaching a total of 7 boys whose ages range from 14 to 19. They also like me to teach some words in English, so fun! They all have made friends with the youth here and like to go to seminary cause it is at night and after they play soccer!! So that has been great! So far one of them has a set baptism date!
Since we are in charge of 2 areas we do a lot of walking everyday. We live in one of our areas and the other area is a 45-60 minute walk depending on how many street contacts we make and how fast we go. It is a great time to tan (or burn) haha! I have some pretty wacky tan lines already. While in this area I made the mistake of leaving my water bottle in the front of the church, thinking that because it was locked off (there is a tall fence around the church), no one could get to it. Unfortunately when I went back to grab it, it was gone. Someone most likely used a pole or stick to fish it out.
I have been having a fun time buying little Brazilian things from little street stands. My favorite is the bracelets here!
A funny thing about Brazil is the house numbers. They are all out of order. You will find house 103 next to house 27 and 2. Very random numbering, it's always an adventure finding houses!
We also had another Zone conference this week! It was great! I love seeing the other sisters, and this time I could understand way more Portuguese! Yay!!
One crazy story this week, there is this guy that can't talk, he only mumbles and uses hand motions. We see him on a street that we pass quite frequently. This week he waved us down and we went to talk to him. He touched my shoulders and I thought he was gonna push me, luckily he didn't. We couldn't understand him, but we just kinda nodded along to converse. I had a feeling he wanted us to pray for him. I gave him a Book of Mormon and told him that we would pray for him. He then said obrigado (thank you). That was a big deal cause normally he can't make out any words. I know God loves all of his children and hope you guys are doing well!
I included some pictures below.
Lots of love, Sister Ward
